Mtn Dew Supernova = Yum

I’m not normally a Mountain Dew fan. My caffeine generally comes in the form of an iced Milky Way from Dutch Bros, or occasionally a classic Coca-Cola. Last week, though, instead of the Coke I’d had in mind, I spotted the limited edition Mtn Dew Supernova “with a blast of strawberry melon flavor and ginseng” and thought it might be a better remedy for my sleepy-eyed, caffeine-deprived stupor. Plus, I like just about anything with strawberries.

Two hours later, only slightly buzzing, I’m typing happily away and feeling quite pleased with my choice, and thinking I ought to spread the word about my find. So here’s a few thoughts on Mtn Dew Supernova:

Content (20 oz. bottle): 290 calories, 105 mg of sodium, 76 g carbs, and 76 g sugars. (91 mg/20 oz, which breaks down to 4.55 mg/oz, roughly the same as standard Mountain Dew)

Color: Deep pink with a purplish tinge

Flavor: Light, crisp, nothing like the regular Mtn Dew. Not even a hint of melon, nor strictly strawberry, but more like a blend of my favorite berry cousins: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, boysenberries, huckleberries, loganberries, marionberries, lingonberries … you get the picture.

So basically, Supernova is the best Mtn Dew flavor I’ve ever tasted! Sure, it’s almost nothing like the original Dew except for the name and caffeine content; it’s a light, crisp, refreshing berry flavor that appeals to those of us that can’t stand the artificial citrus flavor and gross aftertaste (not to mention the disturbing shade of yellow LOL) of the original version. PepsiCo would be smart to expand their market base by making this a permanent flavor!

Oh, and then I got an email with this oh-so-fitting comic :)
